STRETCH MARK REMOVAL
PULSE DYE LASER (PDL) AND NON-ABLATIVE FRACTIONAL LASER
SOTHERGA offers several effective treatments for the removal of stretch marks: the Pulse Dye laser (PDL) and the non-abaltive fractional laser.
PDL can treat red stretch marks and improve white ones. Patients with white stretch marks are preferably treated with non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing. Generally 6-8 sessions are required to get an optimal result.
The pulsed dye laser administers short bursts of light that specifically target red areas in the skin, while simultaneously stimulating the production of both collagen and elastin. Stretchmarks that are red can often see improvement after one session.
The non-ablative resurfacing laser is typically more effective than PDL for the treatment of stretch marks that appear white. This procedure works by building collagen and elastin fibers stimulating formation of new skin tissue. Like with PDL, laser resurfacing is pain-free and has minimal downtime following treatment, however in some patients the area may be red and swollen for a few days. Each session lasts around 10 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area that needs to be treated.
